Superior Sardines in Olive Oil

Sardines Supérieures à l'Huile d'Olive Kaspia are proof that simplicity can be an absolute requirement. Three ingredients, nothing else: 75% sardines, extra virgin olive oil and salt. No additives, no preservatives, no superfluous flavoring. This is the model of canned fish as it should always be - and rarely is.

Sardines are selected for their freshness, size and natural fat content - an indicator of quality and flavor in this fish. The extra virgin olive oil is chosen for its own qualities: fruity, slightly bitter, with an aroma that respects the fish without masking it. Over time in the can, the two meld: the sardine softens, the oil perfumes, and the result is what connoisseurs call a «sardine that has aged» - a complexity for which the best Portuguese and Atlantic canneries are renowned.

Served on a slice of farmhouse bread toasted in olive oil, with a sprinkling of Kaspia fleur de sel and a few slices of sweet onion, they make the perfect aperitif. They can also be used in Niçoise salads, pasta con le sarde or gourmet tartines with tomato confit and fresh basil.
